I’m trying a more expressive type of color here, since I believe it fits the POV of the narration, which is on the Cryptid.
Poor cicada man, I love him already.
Edit: thanks to Reddit user garlic_lollipop who pointed out that the comic was missing the last panel! It's fixed now.
New Secret Knots comic: "1881". If you know someone who you think would like it, you can easily share it with the button to post on Mastodon, Bsky, Facebook, etc. That's how people get here most of the time.
This comic was brought to you thanks to the support of kind Patreon subscribers, such as Phil Gooch.
I'd love to have a palindrome that made sense to add here in the text, but I think I've had enough of flipping things for a while; there will be a full dossier post about this comic, with extras and references, on Patreon soon, though.
Wait! Here's one: ailihphilia ;)
Here’s Samuel Vines from Discworld, possibly ruminating his theory.
You may have forgotten Falkor, but Falkor has not forgotten you. More literary fiction characters requested by Earthquake Critic patrons. (See this post for the rules)
Blind Pew from Treasure Island. I love how R.L. Stevenson describes mischievous characters. “I held out my hand, and the horrible, soft-spoken, eyeless creature gripped it in a moment like a vise.”
Remember, this week I’m making quick drawings of book characters, prompted by Earthquake Critic patrons!
I’d like to reactivate the monthly drawing reward with themes. Now that the comic is finished, and the new one is on the stage of sketches, I think it’s a good time for a quick round of drawings.
These drawings will not be too elaborate, I’m thinking two colors, and loose line work. This is a reward for patrons in the Earthquake Critic tier (10+), but feel free to edit your pledge for one month if you’d like to ask for a drawing. Besides sharing them here on Patreon, I’ll send a printable high-res file on PDF, signed and dedicated to the patron, or someone else, if that’s requested.
What do you say if we start with the theme “characters from books”?
