The Secret Notes 02-Aug-17

While the new comic isn’t done yet, I’d like to share a few monster I drew walking around my hometown in non apologetic two dimensional style:

That one is casually strolling  a couple of blocks away from where I live, and this one

is going up Mapocho river, which goes across Santiago, and these ones

look a bit puzzled by the archs at an old downtown boulevard, while this guy

checks his social media while walking home, at Barrio Yungay.

If you follow me elsewhere you may have seen some of these recently, which reminds me to update my links in case you want to keep up with small things I post in social networks:

I’m on Instagram here, where I post these monsters, sketches and photos of my now recovering black cat and myself

There’s always this Facebook Secret Knots page

I’ve been posting every comic on Tumblr too, where they seem to have found a growing audience, which of course makes me really glad

And here’s me on Twitter, which I use, what’s the word… austerely?

As a coda: there’s a recent interview with me on youtube nicely done by a YT channel focused on Chilean cartoonists, only in spanish I’m afraid, more so in Chilean spanish which often sounds like a dialect to other spanish speakers.

I’m starting to plot in a serialized way again, to devise some connections among upcoming stories. This may be the influence of a recent reading of Thomas Ligotti stories on one hand, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and the fact that I really really want to make a book. I expect to lay the axis for two branches of future stories, but it’s all in a planning stage still. To thicken the plot further, a very old idea -back from when I started with Secret Knots ten years ago!- has came back to haunt me, probably in the form of periodical small doses. If it proves to be a functional idea in the sketches I should start running it around October.

That’s all for now, I’ll get back to you soon with medieval doodles for some, and a new comic about a shady roommate, loosely based in real life as most of these things go. Thanks a lot, once more, and may you have the loveliest week.

J.
