Latest Comics

Eighteen Eighty one

Edit: thanks to Reddit user garlic_lollipop who pointed out that the comic was missing the last panel! It's fixed now.

New Secret Knots comic: "1881".  If you know someone who you think would like it, you can easily share it with the button to post on Mastodon, Bsky, Facebook, etc. That's how people get here most of the time.

This comic was brought to you thanks to the support of kind Patreon subscribers, such as Phil Gooch.

I'd love to have a palindrome that made sense to add here in the text, but I think I've had enough of flipping things for a while; there will be a full dossier post about this comic, with extras and references, on Patreon soon, though.

Wait! Here's one: ailihphilia ;)

Comic update

Saint Jules- part1-TT-02 Saint Jules- part1-TT-03 Hey! The next comic, called “Saint Jules” is moving forward, currently at 40% of completion. (It’s longer than usual). I’d say it’s a character-centric small play that happens during a touristic travel with supernatural hues. There you have it: my “elevator pitch”. I may need a tall building and a very slow elevator for that one. If you enjoy my work please consider pledging from $1 and up on my Patreon. You’ll help me make more and also get exclusive material: for instance, you can already read the whole first part of this comic there. Thanks!

The Secret Notes – Jan 21 – Ghosts of the past

The old and the new. Up there, and old comic that I adapted to current phone reading. If you are seeing this from my patreon home page you can see some of its drawings in the banner images.

Here we go again.

This new year has come with new goals. Some I see clearly as notes that I keep bringing upfront no matter how the pile of all notes grow. One of them is a specific project pitch i’m working on, a private world so far. Others are more like questions I want to answer in story form, and muscles I need to exercise: comics narrative tools. Among them, dialogue and characters. The next comics on The Secret Knots follow that trail and I hope they will be a step up from what I’ve been doing so far, event if it mean working on something that may look a bit less “viral” in the current sense.

I already did self-contained, click-baity titled, 12 frames stories for a while and it was fun. It was the kind of thing that readers could recommend on their twitter and bring curious people to read based on the title alone. And yet, that format still overflows the current shape of most social media interfaces. Those comics are still too long for instagram, too much to read when put next to 4 frames jokes, less relevant on reddit than they were some years ago. And it doesn’t mean I’ll start making 4 panel jokes now, of course. Quite the opposite. I’m giving the next stories the room they need to breathe and the pacing the characters require. And something tells me that Patreon sustainability has less to do with passing virality than with artistic consistency and empathy. I’m having fun with what I’m drawing and I think it’ll show. I should be posting here exclusively, the first pages over the next days; I’m excited about the new stories and I hope I can pass this excitement on to you.

Patreon related notes: A little reminder for those on the 10+ tier: as usual the chance to request drawings is open. Feel free to ask for a new profile drawing or personal sketch. For all tiers: this year will bring new chances for cameos and special portraits. And new comics will have their special dossiers too, with the head cannon and juicy extras (thanks for telling me about the things you enjoyed)

The ghosts of the past sleep quietly: they don’t need to go anywhere. But sometimes we do.

I hope you have a great week. Thank you so much for being here.
